This painting was a response to the prompt ‘how do women perceive themselves, and how do they feel perceived by society?’
It is centred around the idea that women can be judged for almost anything they do in the world, but if they are lucky enough, have a close group of friends who understand, love and support them. Each of the three women pictured are affected by different things to varying degrees, as is symbolised by the spotlights on them. There is a lot to be read into this painting, but if nothing else, I wanted to make it beautiful, like all the women in my life.
